Silent
Auction
Thanks to all
who helped make the Iowa Wine Festival’s silent auction a great success in
2007, either by donating items for the auction or by purchasing an item.
Last year, the Iowa Wine
Festival donated a portion of the proceeds from the silent auction to
Enduring Families, an organization that assists our Iowa National Guard
soldiers and their families. We again will support this organization in
2008.
Enduring Families provides
emotional and financial support to families in the National Guard. The group
assisted 52 families with donations during Operation Christmas for Iowa
Guard families. They help families stay in touch during deployments, and
they help with reunion and reorganizing the family when the soldier returns.
The 2007 Iowa Wine Festival
donation was used to aid a soldier who was getting ready to leave for his
third tour. The donation paid for last-minute house repairs and to cover the
gap between his civilian and military pay.
